This is perfect for families with older kids!

While Sundance Square is absolutely gorgeous, I love exploring other downtown areas that speak to your heart! Maybe you have a special connection to Downtown Arlington or Mansfield, Downtown McKinney or even the trendy Bishop Arts District. I had an amazing session with a family in Bishop Arts, and the colorful murals and electric storefronts created such a fun, artistic backdrop that perfectly matched their vibrant personalities. The family even enjoyed ice cream from Melts at the end of the session, which provided a special treat for the kids.

Timing is everything: I schedule these sessions for early morning or later in the evening to avoide the crowds and get that gorgeous light filtering between the buildings.

Can I just say how much I adore in-home sessions? There's something so beautifully authentic about capturing your family in the space where you make pancakes on Saturday mornings and read bedtime stories every night. These sessions tell the real story of your family's daily life.

In-home sessions are perfect when you have a new baby (because let's be honest, leaving the house with a newborn is an accomplishment in itself!), multiple little ones, or family pets who are part of your crew. We can capture those cozy morning snuggles, backyard adventures, and all the little details that make your house your home.

Choosing the Perfect Location for Your Family

After photographing hundreds of families throughout DFW, I've learned that the best location is the one where your family feels most comfortable and authentically themselves. Here's how I help families make this decision:

  • Consider your children's personalities: Do they need space to run and explore, or do they do better in more structured environments? Some kids thrive with the distraction of ducks and nature, while others focus better in cleaner, simpler settings.
  • Think about your family's story: Are you celebrating a milestone, updating portraits, or creating something for holiday cards? THe occasion can help guide our location choice.
  • Embrace the season: Each location offers different beauty throughout the year. Spring brings fresh blooms and soft colors, summer offers lush greenery, fall provides gorgeous warm tones, and winter creates its own cozy magic.
  • Trust your instincts: If a location speaks to you, there's probably a good reason! Sometimes our hearts know exactly what will feel right for our family.
